Sewerby Hall & Gardens

Visited the zoo today with my niece. Nice little zoo. There's not a huge choice of animals but the ones that are there seem happy and healthy. Plus, it's only £4 to get in.

Me and Izzy went to Sewerby Hall on Saturday 1st of may. Lots of great moments but the one I liked most was when I got talking to a lady near the Goats after the penguins had been fed. She told me that they reminded her of the sound of music and proceeded to sing the lonely goatherd song and told me it was her favourite film, I said to her it's definitely one of the better films with nazis in them.. She threw her head back laughing and her sunglasses fell off her head 😅. I really should have given her my number, I cracked her up with a few more goat puns.. Wonder if I'll ever meet my Goat girl again.. Like strangers on a train but with Goats 😍 O ho lay-dee odl lee o O ho lay-dee odl ay! O ho lay-dee odl lee o Hodl odl lee-o-lay!

Super grounds to walk around, especially on a sunny day February day like today. Location is fantastic. Free parking too. Cafe was incredibly busy & a bit cramped to get a seat, & I got the impression staff were struggling to keep up with demand. Food was nice, but I think a tad overpriced for a sandwich. But that's just my opinion. Staff were lovely - professional, helpful & friendly. A great venue to visit though, and lots of activities and events happening, more-so during peak tourist season.

Gardens look excellent as always. A nice quiet place for a walk round. Visited the cafe as we have done numerous times in the past and was very disappointed. I suppose like everywhere else, they blame it on 'covid ', used to really enjoy a freshly prepared coronation chicken sandwich, but only prepacked on offer. The board outside clearly said 'all prepacked sandwiches £1', but was charged £3.85 !!!!! Very confusing with three different bands of charges inside, still wondering where the £1 sandwiches were ?? I still rate the gardens 5*, but only 1* for the cafe. Visited the cafe again, 3rd February, 2025. Comments still same except the cafe looked like it's gone downhill even more. Very untidy looking, floor wanted a good clean. Downgrading from 5 stars to 3.

Lovely walk around the grounds and visited the small zoo. Thoroughly enjoyed it Disappointed that the house wasn't open as the website said it was. But this didn't spoil the day

Really nice place for a walk, plenty of playgrounds and space for the kids. They have a great walk around the perimeter including a small forest walk. Really nice cafe with friendly staff. Easy to walk out and back in through 3 x entrances once you've paid for the day so you easily access the cliff top walks or the beaches and return. They have a small zoo and a lovely house that you can visit but this costs extra and are worth the cost. Decent sized car park and they do hold lots of child friendly events throughout the year.

I love the Walled Gardens! Even though there isn’t much colour at this time of the year, it is lovely to see new shoots appearing and hundreds of bulbs pushing through. One of my favourite things when visiting Bridlington is to park in one of the backstreets beyond the Spa, then walk the full length upto Sewerby Hall and Gardens for a lovely cuppa and maybe some lunch, before popping into the zoo and then across to the Walled Garden to explore. It really is a lovely place to visit and in Summer there are regular performances in the Orangery and exhibitions on in the House. As I visit regularly I have invested in an annual pass this year which I thought very good value. PS If you love running there’s a Parkrun and I understand that it’s also the starting point for Walk for Health.

I was part of a group of friends who frequently go on walks together and we were looking for somewhere that offered drinks, snacks and lunches. Although the cafe was very busy we managed to find enough places to sit. I was very impressed with the attitude of the staff;they were friendly, helpful and clearly enjoyed working there, providing a positive experience for their customers. The food was generally OK (though I would not recommend the sausage sandwich).

The weather was cold and icy so the zoo was closed but it has lovely gardens and play areas. Would definitely go back.
